Alex Solter is a Quality Assurance (QA) Software Engineer in our Quality Assurance (QA) team. He has been with Descartes since 2004 and works out of our Waterloo Office. Prior to becoming a QA Software Engineer, Alex had been working in Routing and Scheduling Support Department.
In his current role, Alex is responsible for testing software products, and the development and maintenance of test plans and test scripts. Most recently he has also taken on the development of automation of test scripts which allows us to perform more tests in a reduced amount of time.
As a member of the QA Department, Alex is committed to ensuring quality products are rolled out to our customers. In his daily work he strives to identify the key parts of the system that need to be exercised to ensure that the most common aspects of the system will be working properly. He invents simple, but effective test cases that can reveal any defects in key features.
Alex originally joined Descartes because of his interest in the logistics business, particularly as software solutions are applied to logistics problems. The broad suite of products, covering many areas of the logistics business, keeps him motivated to continue working for Descartes. The variety allows for great opportunities for professional growth. And, he keeps coming back day in and day out because the QA team is an excellent group of people to work with.
Serge Josipovic is our Director, Software Development – GLN and works out of Waterloo Office. He joined Descartes in early 2008. In his role, he manages the GLN Software Development Team and is responsible for system architecture, implementation, integration, testing and support of GLN Platform and Viatrade - Government Compliancy suite of products and services. When he’s not busy managing the development team, he is helping to recruit and retain employees in our development department. In fact some of Serge’s greatest successes include the recruitment of many new team members and the building of a strong GLN – Software Development Team.
Since joining Descartes, Serge has fast become someone to rely on, especially when it comes to ensuring the development of software is correct. Whether it means an early morning or late night, he doesn’t hesitate to help find a solution to keep our customers happy and our products up and running.
Serge came to join Descartes because of the challenges, cutting edge technologies, fast-paced agile development approach, and team building opportunities. He keeps coming back because of the team, vision, and culture at Descartes.
Rick Ensing is a Senior Software Engineer in our Waterloo Office. He has been a member of the Descartes team since 2007. In that time, Rick has been the primary developer of one of our software components used to provide connectivity options for customers wanting to interact with the GLN. He helps to ensure that as customer requirements are discovered, they are quickly included in the product and rolled out so that we can maximize the number of customers that can make use of the GLN for routing.
Although working on the connecting our customers to the GLN can be challenging, Rick has never backed down. He is always there to help find innovative and new ways to create successful solutions for maximizing use of our GLN routing. This has made some very happy customers and helped us replace an aging system with a more efficient one.
Rick joined Descartes because he wanted a challenge and the opportunity to be creative and use an ingenious approach. What keeps Rick coming back each day is that he is part of a strong team and knowing that this team has tremendous talent and opportunities to contribute in significant ways to the organization’s success and growth.
Tony Iannazzo works out of our Ottawa Office and has been part of the Descartes team since the acquisition of ViaSafe in 2006. Prior to this, he had been a member of the ViaSafe team since 2001.
In his role as a Sales Manager, he is responsible for helping to achieve profitability and growth that is in line with our company’s vision and values of working together as O.N.E. L.E.A.R.N.ing T.E.A.M. He works to establish plans and strategies to expand the customer base in the marketing area and contributes to the development of training and educational programs for clients. Some of his key duties include signing up new customers, promoting additional value added services to existing customers, and managing customer expectations. He also helps customers migrate from test to production.
Tony is a valued member of the Descartes family and is always willing to lend a helping hand. He is often approached by his team members with questions regarding policies or procedures, or about specific clients and he is always willing to provide assistance. In fact, Tony often steps up when things get busy, whether it means sitting in with the Processing Centre employees to take overflow calls during peak hours, working with Customer Support when there are questions regarding a client’s setup, or collaborating with Accounts Receivable when there are overdue invoices.
To Tony, the best part about working here is the people within the Company. To him it is the people that he works with that make his days a lot more enjoyable.
