e-Scheduler Offers Least-Cost Delivery Within Time-Definite Windows

The Descartes Systems Group Inc. (NASDAQ:DSGX), (TSE:DSG), a leading provider of e-commerce fulfillment solutions, announced today the release of e-Scheduler - a Web-based self-scheduling system for home delivery - as part of Descartes' DeliveryNet solution for building high-performance customer fulfillment networks

e-Scheduler raises the bar for Internet commerce by giving customers the ability to choose, over the Web, when they will receive their deliveries. At the same time, e-Scheduler enables the service provider to carry out least-cost delivery within narrow, customer-selected time windows. All of these factors lead to profitable e-fulfillment that personalizes the consumer delivery experience.

e-Scheduler integrates Web-based self-scheduling with incremental dynamic routing and scheduling optimization to increase customer convenience and control while improving operational productivity and profitability. It enables home delivery and consumer direct companies to offer time-definite delivery to their customers within narrow time windows. Customers select from multiple delivery windows via their Web browser as part of the order process. e-Scheduler then dynamically verifies the delivery address, incorporates the delivery location and time into the routing plan, and reoptimizes routes and schedule times for the next customer to ensure profitability.

e-Scheduler's use of street-level routing information for travel calculations based on actual distances -- rather than straight-line, point-to-point estimates -- offers least-cost routes and more accurate ETAs. e-Scheduler also provides stop sequences and point-to-point routing instructions to streamline the driver's delivery day.
